Young AZ lost 2-3 at home against Young PSV on Monday evening. Both Alkmaar goals came from the foot of Yusuf Barasi. Due to the loss, Jong AZ remains number seven in the ranking.
Jong PSV started the U23 clash well. The visitors were already leading 0-2 in Wijdewormer after about twenty minutes. Young AZ did little to counter that. While coach Maarten Martens had a fairly strong selection with the necessary players from the main selection. For example, Maxim Dekker started in the base and the Belgian coach had also made room for Myron van Brederode and Yusuf Barasi. The latter player scored twice in the first half. However, that was not enough to go to the dressing room with a good feeling, because the team from Eindhoven made three before the break.
Debut
Striking was the failure of referee Nick Smit. The leader had to leave the field after ten minutes because of a whiplash. Fourth official Sven Spaan from Grootebroek replaced him and made his debut in professional football.

Chances
Much less happened in the second half than before the break. Goals were no longer scored, but Young AZ appeared dangerous a number of times in front of the goal of the PSV players. Myron van Brederode and substitute Mexx Meerdink shot just wide.
Young AZ will come into action again on Friday. Then the Alkmaar promises will visit Jong FC Utrecht.
