Two girls harassed by man masturbating on train

The police are looking for the man who harassed two girls on the train in Hoorn last night by masturbating. The girls called for help, after which the man fled the still stationary train.

The two sisters (11 and 16) were on their way home when a man got on the car in Hoorn. The man sat down next to the two girls in the four-seater and began to masturbate. The girls first said something about it and then called for help from fellow passengers. The man then ran from the still stationary train. A fellow passenger chased him, but was unable to catch the man.

In the Noord-Hollands Dagblad, the girls’ older sister, Sezina Kelsey Steur, tells the story on behalf of her sisters. She says that the man looked agitated when he sat down. “At one point he took his dick out of his pants and started masturbating.” The police and NS confirm the incident and are investigating the camera images.

Safe public transport?

Steur says that her sisters are “in shock” and have filed a report. On Instagram she calls on the NS to use cameras “for which they are intended” and to ensure that public transport is safe for everyone.

This incident closely follows the assault on the train in Alkmaar on 23 May. Then a 19-year-old woman was groped and assaulted for forty minutes by a man on a train from Amsterdam to Alkmaar. Only in Alkmaar was she able to get out and ask for help. It also happened last Monday, when three men groped a sleeping young woman (19) on the train between Lelystad and Almere.

The NS responds that they are doing everything they can to prevent incidents like this, by means of cameras and the special Whatsapp number, 0613181318. If travelers feel unsafe, they can send a message here. The police advises people who travel by train or via the station to save this telephone number.
