Two fans killed in riots in Colombia

Two Colombian soccer fans were killed in riots after the city derby between Independiente Medellín and Atlético Nacional on Sunday.

According to police, rival supporters clashed outside the stadium after Nacional’s 3-1 win, killing two men aged 25 and 34. 14 other fans were injured.

Medellin Mayor Daniel Quintero promised a reward of around 40,000 euros for information leading to the identification of the perpetrators.

Football officials and government officials discussed tougher penalties for violent football offenders at a meeting on Thursday.
