As sources from the Barcelona City Council have explained to ACN, the owners had the animals locked in an uninhabited house where renovation works have been carried out for years.

The operation, carried out last Thursday, learned about the case through neighbors complaints. The animals, a male and a female of 3 and 7 years old respectively, have been transferred to a shelter to preserve their well-being.
