The police say they have no doubts that the two dead in the Kia Picanto found at the Empel junction (A59/A) are the missing Hebe (10) and Sanne (26). The identities of the two have not yet been officially established.
A police spokesman said an officer saw tire tracks at the intersection on Wednesday evening. A police helicopter was then called in and found the car.
The car is on the left side of the road in the water in a gentle bend from the Empel junction. This place is on the route from Raamsdonksveer to Vught. “We wish everyone involved a lot of strength,” the police said on Twitter.
Mark Deckers (35) is Sanne’s best friend, and from the moment she went missing, he was constantly looking for her. He is on site on Wednesday evening and is very emotional. “They are no longer there,” he says.
On Monday Sanne left Raamsdonksveer with the girl in a black Kia Picanto. The counselor picked up Hebe at a day center in Raamsdonksveer and would drive from there to Vught, where the girl lives. They never got there. In the days that followed, police and volunteer groups mounted massive searches to find the two. An amber alert was also issued for the girl on Tuesday morning.
Veterans Search Team
The two were last seen on the A59 near Waspik. A lane was closed for the investigation on Wednesday afternoon. The Veterans Search Team was still searching in Waspik-Zuid on Wednesday evening. SAR Netherlands and volunteers from the Coordination Platform Vermissing (CPV) also helped on Wednesday in the search for the girl and her supervisor.
