Two days of national mourning in Cuba after 45 deaths by explosion in Havana hotel | Abroad

The announcement on state television came shortly after firefighters pulled the last body from the rubble. Among the victims is a Spanish tourist, the others are Cubans, including four children and a pregnant woman. Of the 54 injured, 16 are still in hospital. Two of them are still in life-threatening condition.

The explosion at the luxury five-star hotel is believed to have been caused by a gas leak. Hotel Saratoga is located on the edge of Havana’s Old Town. Mick Jagger, Madonna and Beyoncé, among others, have stayed there in the past.
