Two corona cases in the Swiss ice hockey team

In the Swiss ice hockey team there are two positive corona cases at the Winter Olympics in Beijing. Denis Malgin and Dario Simion are in isolation in the Olympic Village on Saturday, according to the Swiss Association.

If you have two negative tests 24 hours apart, you can leave. The Swiss arrived in Beijing on February 4th. Killian Mottet and Mirco Müller, on the other hand, can start training. They also had a positive first test, but the follow-up tests were negative.

It was similar with the German team after arrival in three cases. Unlike the Swiss, neither the German Olympic Sports Association nor the German Ice Hockey Association comment on the names of the three players.

In the first training session, Korbinian Holzer, Marcel Brandt, Stefan Loibl and Daniel Pietta were absent. Pietta was present at the opening ceremony in the evening, as postings on social media showed. One player from the trio Holzer, Brandt and Loibl was not expected in Beijing until Saturday because he could not show enough negative tests after a previous corona infection to travel with the team on Thursday. The DEB has also not wanted to name the latecomer.

The men’s ice hockey tournament doesn’t start until February 9th. Germany starts the following day against record Olympic champions Canada.
