Two arrested in drowning investigation into dog with tied paws | NOW

Two people have been arrested in the investigation into the drowning death of a dog that was found with tied legs in the Zwolle-IJssel Canal last year, reports the Police Tuesday.

The two suspects came into the picture following a tip, police said.

One of the suspects, a 37-year-old man from Zwolle, was arrested on Sunday. He is suspected of not having helped a needy animal.

The second suspect, a 53-year-old man from Zwolle, was arrested on Monday. He is suspected of killing the dog.

Both suspects were released after questioning. However, they are still suspects in the investigation.

A few days after the dog was found, the owner was found. It is not yet clear whether the owner is also one of the two arrested men.

The discovery sparked outrage at the time. After the dog was found, the Zwolle police therefore organized a farewell service.
