Twitter account Geert Wilders suspended
The Twitter account of PVV leader Geert Wilders has been suspended. He confirms this after reports from the right-wing websites De Daily Standard and NieuwNieuws and a number of tweets about it from several PVV MPs.
Wilders says that Twitter has “temporarily restricted” his account because of tweets he has sent. In particular, this concerns a tweet from Wilders addressed to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. In it, the PVV leader talks about the many death threats he receives from Muslims in Pakistan.
Takes longer
Wilders reports that if he deletes certain tweets, he will get his account back within 12 hours. However, he appealed to Twitter, because the social media company first reported to Wilders that the tweet in question did not violate the rules, but later came back to it. As a result, his account will remain suspended until a ruling is made.
It is unknown when that ruling will be made. Wilders hoped it would be within two days, but says it is already taking longer.
Wilders’ last tweet was on Wednesday, April 20. Twitter could not be reached for comment at this time.
