The new social medium was launched last July by Meta, Zuckerberg’s company. Instagram’s more than one billion users were invited to download the app. As a result, Threads became the fastest downloaded app ever, breaking ChatGPT’s record.
But the enthusiasm didn’t last long and the call for a web version became louder and louder. The user then does not have to download an app or install software, but can use the program directly via a web browser.
According to company Similarweb, which specializes in web analytics and web traffic, the number of daily active users fell from 49.3 million to 10.3 million. Many celebrities like Jennifer Lopez who got privileged early access rarely posted there.
Threads is not available in Europe due to European data protection law.
