Twitter founder Jack Dorsey He has assured that he misses the first days of the Internet, when protocols like IRC made the web seem like a place of limitless possibilities. In addition, he has carried the guilt that things are different

Dorsey’s tweet is interesting from a tech exec who made billions by creating a platform that centralized the way we consume news.

Twitter may not be as big as Facebook and TikTok, but the effect it has had on communication and information sciences is hard to deny. Just about anyone turns to Twitter when they need real-time information about something that’s going on. Even people who have never used it.

“The days of Usenet, IRC, the web…even email (with PGP)…were amazing,” Dorsey said in a tweet on Saturday, reported by Engadget. “Centralizing discovery and identity in corporations really hurt the internet. I realize that I am partly to blame, and I regret it“.
