Twitter said on his blog on Thursday that they started an experiment where users have the opportunity to edit the tweets they publish afterwards.
Users were also tweeted about the new feature.
The company first started testing the new function internally. Now we want to present the function to users as well. The blog post says that they want to expand the new function to users of paid services later this month.
In addition to a regular account, Twitter offers paid services to users. Paying Twitter Blue service users can, for example, cancel or delete tweets and in the future also edit them.
The experiment will therefore first be conducted among paying users. Twitter Blue service is available in New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the United States.
It is also possible to see edited messages outside the test areas.
If you don’t see the embed, watch it from here.
Tweets that have already been published once can be edited a few times in the future within 30 minutes of the first publication.
The information that the original message has been edited will be clearly added to the edited tweets. In addition to the edited mark, the tweet shows the editing time, and it is also possible to view all its previous versions in the editing history.

Mixed reception
Many users have long wished for an editing feature on Twitter. However, the news was met with mixed feelings.
Many of the users think that the new feature allows for quick correction of typos or other similar bugs.
Others feel that precisely those small mistakes and imperfections and various ramblings are exactly the essence of Twitter.
– Edit button be damned, I’m pretty sure that there will be typos in my tweets in the future. old fashioned, published by one of the users.
The news was also received negatively.
– This sends a completely wrong message. The soccer field doesn’t have an edit button either, another user comment.
Security worries the experts
The new editing option has also raised security-related concerns.
Experts have asked whether it is possible to cheat the system and algorithm and use the function to spread malicious messages.
What if a carefree and harmless tweet goes viral, and then its content is edited for harmful use, such as insulting or spreading misinformation?
In such a situation, the harmful tweet would spread more widely. Now, in principle, a harmful or offensive tweet usually does not spread widely.
Twitter said in its blog that it is also for this reason that they want to try editing tweets first with a smaller user base, so that possible problem situations can be identified and thereby solved.
