Twitter Clone Threads Already Hits 100 Million Users Milestone | Tech

Meta, the company behind Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, released Threads early last week after Twitter imposed limits on how many tweets logged in users could read.

With Threads, Mark Zuckerberg is therefore directly competing with Elon Musk’s Twitter. And it runs like a train. Threads took five days to reach 100 million users, reports ‘The Verge’.

ChatGPT previously took two months to do so. The big difference is that Threads is linked to Instagram and users can log in to Threads via Instagram. ChatGPT, on the other hand, was available worldwide; Threads does not officially work in the EU, because the company is still investigating whether Threads complies with European regulations.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri was previously delighted with how the release went. “But we don’t even know yet if this thing is permanent. It is also important that we have a perspective on what matters in the long term.”

Threads will receive several new features in the near future, including support for ActivityPub.
