BVB players Youssoufa Moukoko and Paris Brunner have been honored with the Fritz Walter Gold Medal by the German Football Association.

National player Moukoko receives the most important award in the German youthfootball for the U19 vintage, as the DFB announced on Wednesday. The 18-year-old BVB professional was part of national coach Hansi Flick’s squad at the World Cup in Qatar last season and was part of the U21 squad at the European Championships in Georgia and Romania.

Brajan Gruda from FSV Mainz 05 received silver in the U19 soccer team, bronze went to Hoffenheim’s Umut Tohumcu.

Dortmunder receives gold, bronze to Schalke

The gold medal in the U17 class also goes to a junior Dortmund player: Paris Brunner. The 17-year-old was the top scorer and player of the tournament when he won the European Championship in Hungary.

Silver went to Noah Darvich, who switched from SC Freiburg to FC Barcelona in the summer and has an exit clause of one billion euros there. The top 3 is completed by Assan Ouedraogo from second division side Schalke 04, who shot the U17 team to the title with his decisive penalty.

“All six lads impressed us, they convinced their coaches and, most importantly, made their team-mates better,” said Joti Chatzialexiou, sporting director for national teams.
