Most teachers who return to work after retirement are in the age category between 60 and 70. However, there are also outliers up to 80 years.
Most teachers who returned to the classroom after retirement last school year did so in primary education (1,116) or secondary education (907). Most of them can be found in the province of Antwerp (739), East Flanders (546) or West Flanders (399). Flemish Brabant (304), Limburg (224) and Brussels (116) have fewer pensioners in the classroom. Although this is often a part-time assignment, a quarter of them took on a full-time schedule.
