Twenty people were injured on Saturday evening after an accident with a tractor and a flat cart in Losser in Overijssel. Four of them were taken to hospital by ambulance. Sixteen other people went to the hospital or the GP by their own transport, the police reported. Emergency services rushed out en masse.
On the cart were members of the local football club KVV Losser. They were touring the village to celebrate a championship celebration when the cart, pulled by a tractor, overturned for unknown reasons.
Police have not released any information about the severity of the injuries. According to regional media, it concerns, among other things, bone fractures.
Several ambulances, including ambulances from Germany, and a trauma helicopter were called out because of the accident. The police called on people to stay away from the Havezatensingel in Losser, where the accident happened around 8.30 pm, and to give emergency services space. Police are still investigating how the accident could have happened.
Mayor Gerrit Jan Kok van Losser was shocked by the accident. In a statement, he thanked the emergency services who helped. “We deeply sympathize with the injured, their families, club members and others involved,” he said. “Our first concern goes out to the young people who experienced the accident. They are received and cared for where necessary.”
The football club confirmed late Saturday night on social media that “some members” were injured. “Fortunately, we can announce that most members are now in the canteen with us. Unfortunately, a few members have also gone to the hospital and are well cared for there. We sympathize with them and their families and wish them a speedy recovery!”
