Twelve people evacuated after fire in…

At 2:10 am, the fire brigade from the Westhoek zone was called to a blazing fire on the Brugseweg. When the police arrived, the resident of the affected apartment on the ground floor was already outside.

Thanks to an initial extinguishing attempt by the police, the fire was limited to the ground floor apartment. The fire brigade continued to extinguish the fire. The fire was quickly under control. Eleven other residents were able to leave the building in time and were sheltered nearby. For safety reasons, it was decided not to allow anyone to return to the building last night. Together with the police and the mayor, we looked for shelter.

The resident and an upstairs neighbor were taken to hospital for evaluation. The Brugseweg was closed to traffic for a while.
