Sywert van Lienden sat at the table with Twan Huys in Buitenhof last June. The interview was a ratings hit with more than 600,000 viewers at noon. What the viewer did not see is that the corona grabber walked away very angry after the broadcast, Twan now says in the talk show Time for MAX.

Sywert angry

There was a very tense atmosphere afterwards, reveals Twan. “It started friendly, the interview at Buitenhof in June last year, but afterwards he was angry with me about the questions that were asked in that broadcast. I don’t think he wanted to see me anymore and left without greeting. Well, fine, that is possible and that is allowed.”

Twan still stands behind the way he interrogated Sywert back then. “We researched it well and we thought the questions we asked were important.”

Now Sywert is no longer mad at Twan. “The curious thing is that we met a few months ago. I like to walk and here near the studio and also at the studio of KRO-NCRV, where I work now, is the Corversbos. We like to hang out there in the afternoon. That also happens to be the place where he often goes for a walk.”

They were walking through the same forest at the same time. “He was there with one of his companions, Bernd. Then we bumped into each other on the hiking trail.”

curious conversation

What did Sywert say when he saw him? Twan: “There was no sign of the anger after Buitenhof, but it was a curious conversation and a strange meeting.”

“We talked for twenty minutes and he was convinced at the time that the investigation that is now going on would exonerate him completely. The opposite has been happening in recent days.”
