TVF President Mehmet Akif Üstündağ spoke about Giovanni Guidetti and his decision to leave:



The Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF) said goodbye to Giovanni Guidetti, Head Coach of the A National Women’s Volleyball Team, which it announced that the roads were parting in the past few days, with a press conference.


TVF President Mehmet Akif Üstündağ and Giovanni Guidetti attended the press conference.

Making a statement at the press conference, Mehmet Akif Üstündağ said, “We brought Giovanni Guidetti to the head coach of the women’s national team in Turkey for 5 years. At the press conference we held, we mentioned that Guidetti is one of us. He is also our brother-in-law. He still works in Turkey. He started his career in the Turkish National Team 5 years ago. He made very important contributions and services to Turkish volleyball. We met with him after the last world championship. We talked to each other and had a long meeting. We decided to leave. As the president of the community, I would like to thank Giovanni Guidetti for his services to the national team so far. I wish him success at VakıfBank. We are always together again. He serves a very distinguished club of ours. We continue to receive help from him. Never We did not have a difficult process. Thank you very much for your service to the Turkish National Team. We made this decision by talking. If we have the right, we are halal. Turkish volleyball has gained incredible momentum. I think this momentum will continue. People may not be tomorrow. But as long as we are in this task, we want to continue in the best way possible. Thanks again to everyone who took part. Today, at the point where Turkish volleyball has reached, we are in the world championship, we are in the European championship. We are on VNL. The men did very well. We are not only in VNL for men. We lost him in the final too. I think we can catch it with good momentum. According to me, in 2024 Paris, the participation of women is 99 percent and the participation of men is 51 percent. With each passing day, Turkish volleyball has gone further than where it is and will continue to do so,” he said.


GUIDETTI: TURKEY WAS 15TH RANKED WHEN WE STARTED, NOW 7TH


Reminding that he has lived in Turkey for 15 years, Giovanni Guidetti said, “I am very happy to be here. I can say that I am Turkish as well. I am proud of the work we have done in the last 5 years. We have received medals, we have won the right to participate in the Olympics, we have participated in the world championships. Most importantly, to work When we started, Turkey was ranked 15th worldwide. Now it’s down to 7. I think it’s a great situation. I think that’s how I give back what Turkey gave me. I would like to thank our president in particular. He is also in Paris I think we can win a medal. I became ‘brother-in-law’ and ‘teacher’ for everyone. I would like to thank our president, players and technical staff for their efforts in the last 5 years. Thanks to these efforts, we can reach more young players. 2 days ago, a young girl from Bitlis reached me I regret that you are not the head coach of the national team, but I am glad that you can spare more time for us. I’m hoping. Messages like these make me proud of what I do. I did my best for this country in the last 5 years. I want to say that I will be one of the best supporters in Turkey in the future. Turkey is a great country when it comes to volleyball. I want it to stay that way,” he said.


TVF President Mehmet Akif Üstündağ presented a plaque and flowers to head coach Giovanni Guidetti.
