The documentary ART IS A STATE OF MIND by Aljoscha Pause about the artist Bernhard Zünkeler will premiere on June 11, 2022 at 8:15 p.m. on 3sat. The documentary will also be available from June 11th in the media library of the public broadcaster. The broadcaster is devoting its entire evening to the six-part documentary during prime time on Saturday: all six episodes can be seen from 8:15 p.m.
An ambitious long-term project
For nine years, the documentary filmmaker Aljoscha Pause accompanied the former commercial lawyer Bernhard Zünkeler around the world. The first shooting took place in the summer of 2012. From then on, Pause as a director and producer accompanied Zünkeler in turning away from his old life as a lawyer and towards his persistent focus on his own art. His declared goal: to change the world with his art. In addition, the film deals with his own definition of success and his thesis of art as a state of consciousness.
Global Art Projects
The documentary series provides insights into the exciting work of Bernhard Zünkeler: The viewers accompany him as he sets up his own art labs and encounters international artists as well as the creation of a worldwide network with more or less like-minded people – whether with Cuban opposition figures or Los Angeles gang members.
Intimate moments from music and sport
In 2020 Aljoscha Pause published the five-part documentary series LIKE A STRANGER – A GERMAN POPMUSIK STORY. This is about the highly talented musician Roland Meyer de Voltaire and is dedicated to the question: “What happens to all the talented artists who are predicted to have a great career and still fail?” Pause is also for documentaries from the football world like TOM MEETS ZIZOU, BEING MARIO GÖTZE or also known as TRAINER.
