The news is that Mediaset has increased the offer for its Saturday evening. In short, something is moving in the TV rights game and the Serie A League has decided to give broadcasters a few more days, the new deadline is October 23rd, to present the new offers. Yesterday, in the dense series of private negotiations, the strengthening of the offer for the free-to-air live broadcast emerged: it would be a first for the championship. In the pre pay-TV era, therefore before the 1993-94 season, there was limited time on Rai to be broadcast in the late afternoon. The Mediaset relaunch is a first signal for the League that it wants to overcome the stalemate and is pursuing the possibility of closing the game at the same economic levels as the last tender, the one that will expire at the end of this tournament and which is based on the Dazn-division Sky.

But how are things regarding the rest of the matches? The gap between supply and demand with Dazn would not be particularly wide, it would be around 40 million. And these days could bring the parties further closer, effectively allowing a confirmation of the current structure with the novelty of the free-to-air match. That the games, however, always remain complicated is confirmed by the fact that we continue to talk about the League Channel with various reassurances on the fact that from a technical and commercial point of view, the operation would already be feasible. Yesterday, the rumor also spread about a possible turnaround in the event that it is not possible to close with Dazn. Sky would fall into the role of number one broadcaster, in the current agreement holding the co-exclusive rights to three matches, which would have all ten matches. Obviously living with Mediaset’s Saturday evening. This scenario would also include the activation of the offer of the Lega Channel, which would join that of Sky. These days of negotiations will however be hectic because time is starting to run out on the TV rights issue. The League had started early precisely to try to reach a negotiated solution satisfactory for the clubs, but the sequence of postponements consumed the whole summer and it is clear that everyone is interested in closing the agreement as soon as possible.
