Death in the family of Andrea Kaiser. The TV presenter mourns the loss of her father Peter.
Andrea Kaiser’s father Peter died on Thursday in a Bavarian nursing home at the age of 82. He had been suffering from dementia for about ten years. Kaiser’s father had already had health problems: at 54 he had a heart attack and at 64 he had a stroke.
Kaiser, along with her mother, was with her father in his final hours. “I’m grateful that we were able to say goodbye to him,” Kaiser told Bild. For Kaiser, her father was the man “who always protected me, gave me so much love throughout his life, who always wanted to make me laugh and who always cried tears of laughter.”
Despite the death, the presenter was on the sidelines for Sat.1 at the Bundesliga game between Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen just one day later. “Today was perhaps the hardest game of my life, some people saw it in my eyes,” the 42-year-old wrote on Facebook. Kaiser showed no sign of her sadness during the broadcast. “And he’s also the reason why I was standing on the sidelines in front of the camera today. My dad would prefer to see me in a place where I’m happy (if only for this moment), with a team and “Colleagues who are like family, than alone with lots of tears,” Kaiser continued in her emotional post.
Kaiser has been working for the ProSiebenSat.1 media group since 2009 and moderates Bundesliga games as well as various other formats for Sat.1 and Kabel 1.
