Savile is known to have toured children’s hospitals in a charitable spirit, but at the same time he abused the children in their care. The man had no fewer than 117 victims in children’s hospitals.
The man collected millions of euros for charity during his life, but hidden from the public, he was a cruel abuser and rapist. The first of the rapes happened already in 1959, when Savile raped a 13-year-old girl at the Lime Grove studios. The last known case is from 2006 Top of the Pops -in the filming of the music show.
Most of the acts took place in the 1970s, and the majority of the victims were young people who met Savile’s super popular Top of the Pops in connection with the program.
In the investigation, witness statements were heard from more than 700 people. The investigation revealed that Savile took advantage of his celebrity status and abused and raped his victims in television company dressing rooms, hospitals, schools and in his own caravan. He also took Top of the Pops – program’s young people to their homes after filming.
