The third and last Olympic participation of the two-time gold medalist Katarina Witt is the focus of a TV film that will be shot in Prague on behalf of ZDF until the end of May.
After two Olympic victories in 1984 and 1988, the world-famous figure skater finished seventh on her comeback in Lillehammer in 1994. A broadcast date for the film has not yet been set.
Directed by Michaela Kezele, “Kati” specifically portrays the intensive relationship between the four-time world champion and her long-time trainer Jutta Müller. The now 94-year-old supervisor is considered the most successful figure skating coach in history.
“Of course I told her about the film, and we still see each other regularly,” said the six-time European champion itt the Bild newspaper. The 57-year-old, who was eight times East German champion, is played by Lavinia Nowak, who is 30 years her junior. Müller plays her colleague Dagmar Manzel (64).
