TV exit Natasja Froger unwise? ‘RTL also needs seniors’

Natasja Froger has silently disappeared from the screen. Her contract with RTL 4 has not been renewed and she is now being exchanged by a presenter fifteen years younger. “That’s crazy.”

Although Natasja Froger is one of the most popular presenters in the country, she has now been kicked out by RTL 4. In her latest program, Voor Same Money, she is replaced by Leonie ter Braak, fifteen years younger. And that leads to disappointed reactions from viewers.

Not welcome anymore

Rob Goossens, expert in RTL Boulevard, finds it incomprehensible. “I think it’s strange that Natasja is apparently no longer welcome at RTL,” he says The BLVD Podcast.

His colleague Luuk Ikink: “Yes… I agree, but yes: which program will she present? Or do you have to think of something around her?”

Rob: “You don’t have to give someone an exclusive contract. You can simply make a framework agreement of: if we hire you, we will pay you so and so many euros per recording day.”

Seniors at RTL

A TV face like Natasja should be cherished by RTL, believes Rob. “I think it’s strange that she doesn’t have an appointment at all at the moment. I thought she fit in with a program like Voor Same Money.”

Luke agrees. “I also think you should take care… It may sound a bit rotten, but you have to seniors keep, huh? People who are a bit older and have more experience.”

Not just thirties

Luuk, who is 40 years old, thinks it is important that there are also older faces at a family channel. “You can’t just have people in their thirties and early forties on a channel. That is also good, because you are a large family channel as RTL 4 is. You also have to take that into account.”

“You can’t just keep rejuvenating,” he concludes.
