Before long, the inhabitants of the flooded Prayon will be able to gather again in the cafeteria of the sports hall. The beating heart of the municipality was two and a half meters under water last summer, but thanks to hundreds of volunteers, municipal staff and entrepreneurs from the Turnhout metropolitan region – about 120 kilometers north-west – everything will be fine again. Under the motto ‘1 Village, 1000 Hands’, the people of Kempen ‘adopted’ the sub-municipality of Trooz. A unique form of well-organized solidarity that is now even being imitated.
