Is this the turning point in Zoff around the nuclear power plant in Germany?

As the “Tagesschau” reports, the Federal Government would like to signal to the EU partners that it is “willing to extend the service life of the 3 German nuclear power plants”.

The traffic light government is reacting to the discussions within the European Union on the EU energy emergency plan. Franziska Brantner, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics, said to the ARD “Tagesschau”: “In the stress test that is now taking place, we will also take into account the difficult situation in France right now, because there are very many nuclear power plants that are not running. We will include that so that we can show solidarity when in doubt.

According to current law, the Isar 2, Emsland and Neckarwestheim 2 nuclear power plants are to be shut down by December 31, 2022 at the latest.

Against the background of the energy crisis, which has been exacerbated by the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, there has been a debate for months as to whether the three reactors should continue to operate – whether only for a short time or even for a few years.
