The world number one from Turkey secured the title at the European Women’s Volleyball Championship.
In a duel with the reigning world champions, the Turkish women prevailed in a thrilling final in Brussels on Sunday evening with 3:2 (25:27, 25:21, 22:25, 25:22, 15:13).
One player from each team stood out. In the new European champions, who also beat Germany in the preliminary round, Melissa Teresa Vargas scored 41 points. Tijana Boskovic was the most successful scorer for the Serbs with 37 points.
The Dutch women had previously secured bronze at the European Championships by beating Italy 3-0 (25:23, 28:26, 25:20) in the match for third place. For the team of the German Volleyball Association (DVV) at the 33rd European Championships for women in Belgium, Estonia, Italy and Germany it was the last 16 against Poland.
