Türkiye decision from Steam! After November 20… – Last minute Technology news

Remarkable decisions continue to come from Steam, the digital video game distribution platform.

Steam, which also serves in Turkey, announced that it will now withdraw its Turkish Lira support.

Steam fixed the dollar exchange rate from 1.8 TL to 10 TL in 2022.

However, the digital game distribution platform announced that as of November 20, all games on Steam will be sold in dollars and even existing balances will be converted to dollars.

Thus, an increase of approximately 200 percent for the games on the platform is on the agenda.

In its latest statement, Steam said, “The high exchange rate volatility experienced in Argentina and Turkey in recent years has made it difficult for game developers to choose appropriate prices in these currencies and keep them constantly updated.

We encounter this feedback very often in our developer meetups and chats. In addition, we have experienced significant difficulty in keeping Steam payment methods up-to-date and working due to constant exchange rate fluctuations, fees, taxes, and logistical issues in these countries/regions.

“Changing prices to USD for Steam customers in Argentina and Turkey helps us provide a more standardized and consistent service to both players and partners, while also meaning we can continue to offer a variety of payment methods to Steam users living in these countries/regions.” .
