Shortly after its release on Hulu, the documentary celebrated the most watched premiere episode in the 28-year history of the US pay-TV cable network FX Entertainment, which has its own section on Hulu. FX Entertainment boss Nick Grad says about the 2Pac series:

“a fascinating look at the upbringing and experiences that shaped his life and inspired him to become one of the greatest artists in the world.”

Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur also met with enthusiasm in the US rap world. Chance The Rapper also tweeted about the documentary series, describing it as “without exaggeration or exaggeration, quite possibly the best documentary I’ve ever seen.”

In this country there is no easy way to watch the documentary about 2Pac as it airs exclusively on Hulu.

In addition to Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur, four other productions were shortlisted for the category: 100 Foot Wave; “Secrets Of The Elephants”; “1619 Project” and “The US And The Holocaust”.

The potential Emmy wouldn’t be the first award Tupac Shakur, aka 2Pac, would receive posthumously. Because in June 2023, the US rapper was honored with a Hollywood star on the Walk of Fame.

Tupac Amaru Shakur, his real name, died on September 13, 1996 at the age of 25 in Las Vegas. The rapper was in the passenger seat of a car when a white Cadillac pulled up next to his car and shot 2Pac out the window several times. The rap legend died in hospital a short time later.

All five albums that the musician released during his lifetime achieved great success and are still considered records that strongly influenced the entire rap scene. The classic ALL EYEZ ON ME (1996) sold 566,000 units and received gold and/or platinum status in several countries.
