Tuit and Hiemstra miss out on the title of Best Director 2023

Hoogeveen councilor Mark Tuit misses out on the title ‘Best director of 2023’. The prize went to Amersfoort councilor Nadya Aboyaakoub-Akkouh (GroenLinks).

In the run-up to the election, Mark Tuit was already chosen as ‘Best Director 2023 Province of Drenthe’. He was in the race with twelve other directors for the national title of Best Director. The election is organized annually by the trade magazine Domestic Governance and research agency Necker.

The candidates are selected by local and regional politicians, administrators, secretaries and clerks. This year the election focused on the annual theme ‘Involved resident, involved director’. Mark Tuit was described by colleagues as ‘particularly accessible, committed and empathetic’.

Tuit was not the only Drent who was nominated. CDA mayor Anno Wietze Hiemstra of the municipality of Aa en Hunze was nominated in the category ‘Best manager of a small municipality’. Mayor Erica van Lente (PvdA) of the municipality of Dalfsen took this prize home.
