Tuit and Hiemstra have a chance to win the best director prize

Councilor Mark Tuit (PvdA) of the municipality of Hoogeveen is a contender for the title of ‘best director 2023’. He received the most nominations from colleagues in the province of Drenthe.

According to the municipality of Hoogeveen, Tuit’s nomination is the result of his ‘commitment, for which local politicians, administrators, clerks and secretaries from the province of Drenthe have expressed their appreciation’. He is described by colleagues as ‘particularly accessible, committed and empathetic’.

Organizers Domestic Management and Necker have nominated twelve more directors in addition to Tuit. Someone from every province has a chance to win the prize. In addition, a water board director has been nominated.

Councilor Tuit, whose portfolio includes education, culture, healthcare and nature, is proud of the recognition. “It fits nicely with who I want to be as a person,” he says. “The life lesson I received from my father is: always be yourself, don’t look down on anyone or look up to anyone. Continue to see every person and make the world a little more beautiful.”

Mayor Anno Wietze Hiemstra (CDA) of the municipality of Aa en Hunze has been nominated in the category ‘best manager of a small municipality’. He is characterized by colleagues as ‘communicative, knowledgeable and approachable’.

This prize was won last year by Miguel Ririhena, at the time a councilor on behalf of GroenLinks in the municipality of Tynaarlo. In November last year he resigned due to an ‘insurmountable difference of insight and style with the local GroenLinks faction’.

To vote The nominees can be submitted until January 29. On February 7 it will become clear whether Tuit or Hiemstra have won a prize.
