Tuesday Code red (heat) for West Flanders

The province of Hainaut also falls under the same regime. Blankenberge resident David Dehenauw, weather forecaster at the RMI, takes the decision to scale up to Code Red, because the chance of 40 degrees or more can be estimated at 65 percent, for at least a quarter of our province.

What does Code Red mean?

Code red also includes some recommendations. Measures such as: drink a lot and take a lot of rest. Stay in a cool area as far as possible. Avoid direct sunlight and use damp cloths if there are signs of drying out.

After analyzing the observations and the predictions for tomorrow, I have decided, after consultation, to issue code RED for heat in West Flanders and Hainaut, because there is at least a 65% chance that 40 degrees will be reached in at least 25% of those provinces,
