Tuchel allegedly wanted to sell Kimmich

Joshua Kimmich is having a difficult time at FC Bayern under Thomas Tuchel. Now the word from England is that the current Bayern coach wanted to give up the German international. The 50-year-old is also said to have had in mind a sale of Leon Goretzka.

According to “The Athletic”, Thomas Tuchel suggested to those in charge at FC Bayern last summer that they sell either Joshua Kimmich or Leon Goretzka.

Both were central pillars in the midfield under his predecessor Julian Nagelsmann, both appeared dejected after the current national coach’s separation.

As “Bild” now reports, the information from England in the Goretzka case is actually accurate. Tuchel wanted to put the 29-year-old up for sale, but shortly afterwards the DFB star publicly acknowledged the German record champions. Even in the current Bayern crisis, Goretzka is not thinking about saying goodbye to Munich, according to “Bild”, although he is under observation by those responsible due to his mixed performance.

However, the Bayern bosses opposed the sale of Kimmich or Goretzka last summer because they did not want to give up a leading player.

Bayern insider: Tuchel “emasculated” Kimmich and Goretzka

Nevertheless, Tuchel made it publicly clear that he needed a different type of player to be able to implement his tactical ideas. FC Bayern tried to get the English international Declan Rice. Shortly before the end of the transfer phase, Joao Palhinha was about to move to FC Bayern, but the deal fell through.

In the end, Tuchel had to work with the two German national players.

“He was like the doctor who saw that the patient needed an operation, but was then only allowed to prescribe therapy,” The Athletic quoted a source close to Tuchel as saying.

However, the discussions about the strengths and weaknesses of the Bayern stars had a destabilizing effect on the duo’s performance. The 50-year-old “emasculated” Kimmich and Goretzka, as an unnamed insider told the portal.
