Dancing with the Stars program is celebrating the Pink Ribbon – charity episode this week. This Sunday, we will dance in support of Finnish cancer research, and we will share awareness, especially about breast cancer.
At the beginning of the episode, we talk about a cancer patient Ulla-Marian shaking.
About five years ago, Ulla-Maria from Tampere had newly fallen in love with her colleague To Paul. The relationship between the colleagues warmed up to love and the new relationship progressed in its initial ecstasy.
– In the fall, what no one wants to experience happened, i.e. I found a lump in my right breast.
At the doctor, Patti was confirmed to have breast cancer and Ulla-Maria says that she has been in dark waters with the news. The couple’s world stopped in front of the illness.
When Patti had been removed from Ulla-Maria’s breast, the doctor said it was HER2-positive breast cancer. Cancer spreads more aggressively than many other cancers.
During the recovery phase, Pauli experienced a shocking situation when Ulla-Maria suddenly had an epileptic seizure.
– I remember how I shouted, don’t leave me. Many times and loudly. The landscape did shake from that scream, the man said.
At the hospital, Ulla-Maria heard that the cancer had spread to the brain with metastases. He was operated on again and the tumor was removed from the brain.
– Despite the surgery and the radiation treatment period, the controls unfortunately showed that there is a new metastasis. That’s when I started to understand that this can be a disease that won’t get better.
Ulla-Maria’s illness cannot be cured, but it can be stopped with medicines.
– With the help of medication, I have been able to live a really good life for five years.
He has a common motto with Paul. It says everything is fine today.
– No one can know about tomorrow. Neither the healthy nor the sick.
