The longer the first half went on, the more MSV took control of the game. Kolja Pusch from Duisburg had the best scene of the game so far (20th minute) – his shot on goal from a good 17 meters went at least five meters over goalkeeper Norman Quindt’s goal. Quindt really had to stretch in the 29th minute. Pusch tried again from a distance, this time dangerously and half-high into the right corner of the goal. The keeper stretched out and saved the ball.
Stoppelkamp meets the Duisburg victory
Havelse didn’t make a decent start like in the first half after the restart – quite the opposite: Duisburg’s Moritz Stoppelkamp was free in front of Quindt after a pass into the interface (54th), actually did everything right, but the ball landed on the outer post. The guests took this offensive swing with them. Stoppelkamp was free after a corner from Pusch and effortlessly headed the ball into the right corner of the goal to take the lead (55′).
Neither Havelse nor the guests managed to seize the game afterwards. The feeling of “Havelse couldn’t” and “Duisburg didn’t want to” came up. MSV only tried to bring about the decision in the final phase. First it was goal scorer Stoppelkamp, who shot dry from a good 15 meters and just missed the goal (76′), then Niclas Stierlin (81′).
Havelse didn’t do much offensively in the second half. There was also no final offensive. Duisburg got their first away win since August 18, 2021. Lower Saxony, on the other hand, have 13 points and only one win from the past eleven third division games.
