About to turn 37, French tennis player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga announced this Wednesday that he will retire after Roland Garros in 2022which will be held from May 22 to June 5.

In a video on social networks, the former world number 5 and winner of 18 ATP titles, including two Masters 1,000, he said that his head told him that “he could play all his life”, but his body “didn’t have the same springs” to continue at the highest level.

Professional for 18 years, the Le Mans tennis player is currently the 220th in the world and has not won an ATP title since 2019.

I decided to quit after this Roland Garros (end of May) because it is the tournament that best represents what I have done in my career,” he summarized.
