Hoffenheim’s last question mark
“Good solutions” – According to coach Sebastian Hoeneß, TSG Hoffenheim found such in the winter transfer window: Especially with Sargis Adamyan (28, loan to FC Brugge) and Mijat Gacinovic (26, loan to Panathinaikos) it was important to him “what the concerns people”. Both are happy. And now, according to the coach, the Kraichgauers are also going “in the direction of squad size, as I imagine it”. But the question of central defender Kasim Adams (26) remains.
The hopeless and unlucky Adams – in the TM community often marked as a transfer flop in versatile wording – still wants to leave TSG, and Hoeneß supports the plan, although the options for change are now of course significantly limited. “Kasim is definitely someone who just can’t be satisfied with his situation at the moment,” said Hoeneß at a press conference. Adams is looking for a “good solution” for him, and “we’ll do that together. But it also has to be right for all sides.” The contract is valid until June 2023.

The question, however, is where it could go now. The transition period in most major leagues ended at the beginning of February. “The transfer window is still open in one or the other interesting country,” emphasized the TSG coach. Changes are currently still possible, for example to Austria (until Monday), Turkey (until Tuesday) or, where ex-Young Boys pro Adams was already active before moving to Germany, to Switzerland (until February 15). .
Community Opinions on Adams – Weak TSG record hitting bottom in April 2021
In the TM community, the transfer certificate regarding the Ghanaian is largely sobering. But not only. You can see “what the scouts, roses and co. saw in him”, says community member “mxmlhr”. “For me, he basically brings/brought everything to become a really, really good central defender. And who knows where he would be now if he had been fit throughout his first season with us.”
“Rorschach” assessed the situation less forgivingly, in drastic words: “Unfortunately (!), this transfer was a dig deep in the toilet, nothing at all fit, at no time – the nice money … whoops, gone, completely burned.”
Adams only made 16 competitive appearances in his first TSG season 2018/19, was then loaned out to Düsseldorf and has only played 18 minutes for Hoffenheim in the last year and a half – not a single one this season. Low point in April last year: Against Stuttgart, Hoeneß preferred to leave a place on the substitutes’ bench and didn’t even call Adams into the squad. “If you don’t think it’s likely that someone will come on, then you don’t put him on the bench,” the coach said at the time.
