Rudy hurt too
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim midfielder Dennis Geiger has been taken to hospital during the 2-1 Bundesliga win over VfB Stuttgart. “He’s already had a CT scan and he’s fine. But he’ll stay there for the time being,” said his coach Sebastian Hoeneß at the press conference after the game.
Geiger had already received an elbow in the face in the first half and was dazed on the ground after almost an hour after a duel. The 23-year-old had to be carried off the field on a stretcher in Friday night’s game. Geiger was replaced by Sebastian Rudy, who later suffered “a structural injury,” as Hoeneß reported. Since TSG had exhausted their quota of substitutes, the 2018 World Cup participant limped on.

The defeated VfB also went out of the game with injuries after the battle-focused duel. Orel Mangala, who was substituted early, received a horse kiss, according to head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo. Chris Führich was also caught: “He has an instability in his knee that still needs to be examined.”
