“Was extremely unhappy”
Diadié Samassékou’s (26) move from TSG Hoffenheim to Olympiakos Piraeus is perfect. The Kraichgauer announced on Friday that the defensive midfielder will play for the Greek champions until the end of the season. The contract, originally valid until 2024, was previously extended by one year. Record acquisition Samassékou, who came from Salzburg in 2019 for 14 million euros and became the most expensive transfer in the club’s history, only played a minor role in the new season under coach André Breitenreiter. So far he has been on the pitch for 80 minutes, 34 of them in the Bundesliga.
Nsoki in second place: TSG Hoffenheim’s most expensive new signings
“Diadié was extremely unhappy with his current sporting situation and approached us with an urgent request for a change,” TSG sports director Alexander Rosen is quoted as saying in a club statement. “With the possibility that Diadié will get more playing time at a top club like Olympiacos Piraeus, we have found a very good solution in the interest of everyone, which gives us the option to reassess the situation after the end of this season.” Meanwhile, Samassékou remained a participant denied international business with TSG, Olympiakos is represented in the Europa League. The Greeks lost 3-0 to SC Freiburg on Thursday evening.
Immediately before the kick-off, Olympiakos made the commitment of ex-Munich James Rodríguez (31) fixed. In total, the Greeks have 14 signings this summer, five of whom were brought in for a purchase value of 16 million euros – the highest value in Super League 1. Cédric Bakambu (31) is also expected to arrive from Marseille.
Good luck in Greece and see you soon, @diadios
