TSG Hoffenheim lends Nice’s Kasper Dolberg – “Not lost sight of” since 2019

With purchase option

Now it’s official: Kasper Dolberg is moving to TSG Hoffenheim until the end of the season. The 25-year-old attacker comes on loan from OGC Nice including a purchase option, as the Ligue 1 club reported. The loan of the Danish national player to FC Sevilla comes to an early end. In Nice, Dolberg is still contractually bound until 2024.

“Kasper is a center forward who is characterized by his intelligent playing style as well as his excellent ball handling, his dynamism and a certain physicality. He can become a goal threat at any time with clever runs and, in addition to his quality in the end, has the ability to hold the ball well with his back to the goal. We’re convinced that he can add a component to our game that we don’t yet have in our squad in this form and, given our personal situation in attack, we’re glad that the opportunity arose to find such a player for us to win,” explained director of professional football Alexander Rosen.

As the Kraichgauer confirmed in a press release, the club has been trying to get Dolberg’s services since 2019. “We were already convinced of him back then and have not lost sight of him the whole time. He knows how we see him here,” said Rosen about the new signing, who with a market value of 12 million euros will be one of the four most valuable professionals in coach André Breitenreiter’s squad.

With eight goals in 26 games, the 40-time national player in the previous season at Nice, where Dolberg had switched in 2019 for around 20 million euros, mostly did not get beyond the status of a supplementary player and switched to Seville on loan on Deadline Day. The Spaniards also secured a purchase option for the right-footed player, who also failed to make the hoped-for breakthrough in LaLiga. Only four league appearances and one assist have been recorded since his move. At Hoffenheim, Dolberg is supposed to strengthen the offensive that is currently decimated due to injury. The eleventh in the table has to compensate for the absence of Ihlas Bebou (cartilage damage) on the offensive, among other things, Munas Dabbur (shoulder injury) was also absent recently.
