SIOS’s performance is still somewhat disappointing this season, but the club from Sauwerd extended the contract of their very young trainer Quincy Dijkstra this week. The confidence in the coach paid off immediately.
Three thanks for that SIOS from Sauwerd. The fourth grader gave the very young one Quincy Dijkstra this season the opportunity to work as head coach for the first time. The youngster – he will blow out 26 candles on Monday – has not yet had a great season with his club. SIOS is penultimate, but the club still extended Dijkstra’s contract for one season last week.
“I’m very happy with it,” says Dijkstra. “It’s nice that this warm club has a realistic view. They understand that it is about more than results. We are in a tough competition with six teams that played in the third division last season. Moreover, we currently have eight injuries. Yet the training attendance is higher than in previous seasons and we have a selection that is willing to do a lot for it. Actually, everything is going well, but we have to get more points on Saturday.”
Dijkstra rewarded the confidence the club had in him last Saturday with a resounding 6-0 win HSC . After just twelve minutes, SIOS was ahead 3-0. SIOS goalkeeper Leroy Munters then saved a penalty from HSC and saw his fellow goalkeeper blunder at the 4-0 on the other side. “Then it was over,” Dijkstra also saw. “We played a great match. The victory puts us back in touch with the teams above us. The goal is to maintain. We will now first have to climb to the play-offs.”
Thunderous surprise in Rolde
Roller Boys provided a resounding surprise on Saturday by beating the renowned Flevo Boys in the cup tournament. Thanks to a goal by Siemen Krikke it was 1-1 at half time in Rolde. Ten minutes after tea the guests took the lead. First division club Flevo Boys then scored a few times at 1-3, but the crossbar and good goalkeeping stood in the way of success for the guests. Rolder Boys came alongside fifteen minutes before the end thanks to an own goal by Flevo Boys. With five minutes left on the clock, Krikke shot Rolder Boys to the next cup round from a distance.
Flut season De Fivel
It was a year ago Wilhelm van der Wiel sent out by The Fivel . The coach would be too demanding of his players. Perhaps that is what the group needs, because the fourth division has still not won a single match this season after ten matches. On Saturday De Fivel lost 5-2 The Heracmen .
Corne Bos , striker of De Fivel, does not think that a demanding trainer can get more out of the group. “We have a lot of injuries. I have only played half a match this season. My knee is bothering me and it’s driving me crazy not being able to play. I hope to be able to join again after the winter.”
Injuries are not the only reason for De Fivel’s poor results. “We have played a lot of unlucky matches,” says Bos. “If the first victory is achieved, I am sure that more will follow. We are still going for enforcement. We are too good at football for the fifth division.”
De Fivel will have to look for a new trainer for next season. “We do have a preference for someone who has already been a trainer in the past,” says Bos. “I’m not going to say who that is, but we had a great time working with him and he said he wanted to return one day. Let’s hope he still wants that.”
Slipper GOMOS
GOMOS left on Sunday after starting the winter break as sub-topper. In Norg the match ended against the lower ranked team City Park in 2-2. After fifteen minutes, GOMOS was already 2-0 thanks to goals from Robert Elsinga and Wouter Speelman GOMOS still let himself eat the cheese from the bread.
