Trump wants Supreme Court intervention in investigation documents

Former US President Donald Trump has asked the Supreme Court to intervene in a battle over classified documents seized by the FBI during a search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. His lawyers have asked the court to overturn a recent court decision. Trump hopes to prevent the US Department of Justice from investigating the seized documents.

The decision Trump wants to see quashed is dated September 21. Then an appeals court, made up of three judges, ruled that the US Department of Justice may continue to investigate the more than 11,000 government documents the FBI found in Trump’s home in early August. The investigation had previously been halted after a judge ruled that the investigation had to be postponed until an independent arbitrator (special master) had been given the opportunity to assess the material found during the search.

Trump’s criminal investigations include whether confidential confidential papers were unlawfully withheld and whether an attempt was made to thwart a federal investigation.
