Former US President Donald Trump has sued his former lawyer Michael Cohen for more than $500 million. American media write that it concerns, among other things, a violation of the relationship of trust between lawyer and client. Cohen testified against Trump in the case for which the ex-president was arrested last week.

Sources close to Trump tell Fox News that the charges have nothing to do with that case. According to Trump’s current lawyer, these are statements that Cohen made after he had stopped as Trump’s lawyer. It is not known exactly what statements he means.
Cohen plays an important role in the case that forced Trump to come to New York last week because Cohen is the one who allegedly paid the hush money. That was on Trump’s books as attorney fees, making the payment potentially in violation of campaign rules and fraudulent.
Cohen was a confidant of the president for years, but said in early 2021, a few days after the Capitol storming, that he wanted to testify against “the misconduct of Trump and some of his relatives”. “I’m doing this because Trump and family have been trying to destroy democracy in America.”
Prison sentence
The former lawyer was sentenced to three years in prison for, among other things, tax evasion and false testimony against the US Congress. He was released at the end of 2021. He was also suspended as a lawyer in 2018. Trump previously called Cohen “a rat”.
