Trump campaign manager to testify at Capitol hearings on Monday

The man who led Donald Trump’s campaign in the 2020 presidential election will testify Monday during the second day of public hearings over the storming of the Capitol on January 6 last year. This is reported by the parliamentary committee of the US House of Representatives that investigates the riots.

It is unknown if the campaign manager, William Stepien, will testify voluntarily or if he has been subpoenaed. He currently serves as an adviser to Harriet Hageman, a Trump-backed candidate who is challenging incumbent Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney in the state’s August 16 primary. Cheney is deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee investigating the riots.

In addition to Stepien, witnesses Monday included a Fox News journalist who was fired after reporting the actual results of the 2020 election and administrators from the states of Pennsylvania and Georgia. Both states went to Joe Biden in 2020. Trump, however, claimed he had won both states and allegedly pressured officials in both states to change the results.

The first public hearing of the parliamentary committee took place on Thursday. It was broadcast live by most news channels in the US, only Fox News decided to keep the regular programming. Four more hearings are expected to follow Monday.
