The fire brigade allows the truck that was on fire on an exit of the A27 between Breda and Oosterhout to burn out in a controlled manner. There is a load of fries in it, a spokesperson for the fire service said. The grease makes extinguishing difficult.
The fire broke out around 4 a.m. The truck driver stopped the truck at the exit of a gas station along the A27 near Oosterhout and disconnected the trailer from his cab.
The flames could be seen from a great distance for hours. In addition to fries, there are also packs of white wine and coffee in the almost burnt out trailer. The driver was on his way to a supermarket in Heerenveen, he told a 112 correspondent. No one was injured.
File of fifteen minutes
The fire brigade has controlled the fire and is working on extinguishing it, according to a spokesperson. “The more water you throw on a fire, the more smoke is created. You don’t want to cause thick plumes of black smoke during rush hour,” says the fire department’s information officer. The fire leads to stench complaints from nearby Teteringen.
The extinguishing work causes a traffic jam of about fifteen minutes on the A27 between Breda in the direction of Oosterhout.
