Almost the entire Dutch transport world now knows who Martijn Kuipers from Schagen is. The truck driver makes videos about his profession and posts them on YouTube. And with success. More than 100,000 people now have a subscription to follow his adventures.
“A magic number, 100,000. You start something and hope that it will be successful,” says Martijn Kuipers during a beautiful drive with his truck through North Holland. Vlogging started about his own work at a large transport company in Wognum. “It’s a reward for your work. It’s nice that people like it.”
Own style
His truck looks immaculate. The car has been washed both outside and inside. His own logo is stitched into the carpet. “I have spruced up my own a bit. You make it cozy, just like at home. Accessories and curtains. Then you keep your own style, but also your own atmosphere that you feel good about.”
During unloading, Kuipers is regularly approached or asked for a photo and colleagues regularly honk at him on the road. According to him, the success of his vlogs is simple. “I hear from people that they think it is ‘real’. They say that I talk enthusiastically. It makes people want to do it or come along for a day.”

The vlogs started about his own work and employer. He makes the videos together with a colleague from Wognum. The entire transport world has now found him and is receiving requests from companies to come and film. “It has become a lucrative hobby. But no more than that. We keep a little pocket money from it. But we can’t stop working.”
This week a new vlog was released on the YouTube channel. And the next one is already coming. “We went out with a recovery company. They had placed a demolition truck on its side and showed how it works. Yes, I think that’s just a wonderful thing to show”
