A truck was shot through the crash barrier in the central reservation on Wednesday afternoon around half past two on the A67 near Geldrop. As a result, the highway in the direction of Eindhoven is closed. Towards Venlo, the left lane is closed at Geldrop.
You have to take into account a lot of delay in both directions. Redirects have been set up. According to Rijkswaterstaat, the handling can take up to midnight.
It went wrong on Wednesday afternoon around half past two, but why is not clear. The Belgian employer of the driver could not say anything about this on Wednesday around three o’clock. It is clear that the driver is doing well. A colleague of his is on his way to the scene of the accident for support, the company also said.
Huge amount of diesel leaked
The fact that the handling of the accident will take hours has to do with salvage and clean-up work. The truck has leaked a huge amount of diesel. Not only the road has to be cleaned, but also the verge has to be dug up.
The crash barrier must also be repaired, Rijkswaterstaat said.
Redirects
Because the A67 is now (partially) closed, diversions have been set up. Traffic can drive via Roermond on the A2 and A73 from Eindhoven to Venlo or vice versa.
