Truck driver seriously burned in a nasty industrial accident in Spain

A truck driver from Oss (60) was seriously injured in a nasty industrial accident in Spain on Wednesday evening. The man got hot pitch all over him while unloading his car. He would have sustained severe burns.

The accident happened just before 7.30am near Oleofat on the La Serna industrial estate in Tudela. According to Spanish media the company processes and manages oil waste and the man got the tar from his own tanker on him. Pitch is a very viscous liquid that is left over from the production of tar.

Burns department
The victim was first transported to the local hospital in Tudela, but was then taken to Miquel Servet University Hospital in Zaragoza. There is a specialized burns department.

According to it BD the man is artificially kept asleep there, but his life would not be in danger. The viscous liquid that was poured over the man would have had a temperature of 90 degrees. He came to deliver a load and also pick it up immediately.

Several injured
The driver was not the only one injured. A train driver and employee of the Spanish processing company were also hit by the hot pitch that escaped from the work hatch on top of the car. The man from Oss was in the worst shape.

The victim from Oss would have extensive experience with the transport of chemicals. The Spanish police are investigating the cause of the industrial accident.
