Truck driver Sascha sings farmer’s carnival cracker – Omroep Brabant

Sascha van der Kleijn has been driving his truck in Southeast Brabant for twenty years. But secretly he dreams of going completely viral as a singer. The compound feed company from Erp for which he works did not have to ask twice to record a nice song. “Our director likes crazy things,” Sascha laughs. Result: a real farmer’s carnival cracker.

The compound feed company Fransen Gerrits exists 125 years this year, it is one of the oldest family businesses in the Netherlands. Time to draw attention in a fun way, said director Huub Fransen. “We hope this will be a big hit with Carnival.”

Driver Sascha sometimes sang at weddings and parties, but in the past six years his singing career had come to a standstill. “And now this comes my way,” he laughs. “I got a rough version on the piano and a text and I was behind the truck practicing during the unloading.”

Sascha went to the studio with his colleagues to sing the song. Director Huub also sings along. “We work in a sector that is regularly under fire and about which people think very critically. The nice sides remain underexposed. We hope to do something about this.”

The video was recorded at two customers of the compound feed company. Sascha took on the role of a cattle farmer and sang about a working day on the farm in a carnival-esque way. The video came online on Wednesday and Sascha’s phone has been red hot ever since. “It’s a lot of fun and exciting.”

This weekend Sascha will sing again at a colorful evening in Handel. “Then I will sing him live for the first time. Actually, the drink would be digital, but now it is allowed physically again.”
